Draft for OLTAKA meeting #3

Abstract

Introduction: the aim of our researches, our theoretical positioning, and our originalities

The aim of our (OLTAKA members') researches is to gain theoretical insights on the organizational design and adaptation. We make three methodological choices for achieving the aim: to use agent-based simulation, to grasp an adaptation mechanism as an organizational learning system, and to focus on an organizational-level problem.

We take a simulation-based approach. Referring insights of empirical studies and mathematical analysis, we make dynamic evolutionary simulations, try to declare the mechanism of organizational behavior, and use them for theory-buildings about the organizational design and adaptation. Especially, the Agent-Based Simulation (or the Agent-Based Approach/Modeling) is adopted to analyze evolutionary phenomena emerged from complex interactions within agents in the model.

It is worth while to notice that we can grasp the adaptation mechanism as an organizational learning system, which provides the micro-macro link: individuals' actions and organizational behavior.
